If 2006 was Year of the Dragon, 2007 is Year of Adventures over at Wizards, with the first six months netting more adventure releases than in any of the past few years. With the amount of time it takes to craft a good adventure and for a lot of people (especially newer players) picking up a pre-made adventure book that provides several sessions worth of play for $15 can be a good investment. |

Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Saga Edition Posted by: Spriggan on August 01st, 2007
Star Wars has had a strange love-hate relationship with gamers for many years now, 4 different RPG games, 4 different miniature games, heck there’s 5 miniature games if you count Hasbro’s Attatix line, and countless video games. Some have done quite well, WEG Star Wars, some haven’t, the original D20 version of the game. Star Wars Saga Edition is the 4th RPG rule set the franchise has seen and the third from Wizards of the Coast since they revived the license back in 2000, some may wonder why Wizards keeps on releasing version after version if they don’t do well (you need to remember that unlike D&D Star Wars is licensed from Lucas Arts so to break even Wizards has to sell more since they make less off of each book sold)? |

Monsternomicon Posted by: Spriggan on July 12th, 2007
When it comes to RPGs you need three things: a rulebook, players and a book full of nasty things to kill them with. It comes to no one’s surprise about the shear number of monster books available for the D20 system, and subsequently Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), Wizard is about to release their 5th book in as many years and there are so many 3rd party publishers with their own books—so what’s one more? |

Crypt of the Devil Lich Posted by: 42 on July 04th, 2007
The dungeon crawl is how many gamers are introduced to pen-and-paper adventures. The dungeon has always been a convenient model of designing adventures makes it easy to direct the player characters. The dungeon crawl is so common that it is perhaps also one of the most mocked aspects of the RPG, particularly Dungeons and Dragons. Still, Goodman Games has sought to capitalize on the simple enjoyment that can be found in a D&D dungeon. The adventure module Crypt of the Devil Lich is great example of the uncomplicated joy that can be found in a good dungeon crawl.
