Wizkids taps Pirates of the Caribbean for new game

A lot of Wizkids recent success has come from their Pirates CSG game, with some 20 million units sold in just 3 years, which is heavily inspired by Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean in not just feel but look so it comes as a bit of a surprise to find that Wizkids has just licensed Pirates of the Caribbean for a new game (one that hopefully is compatible with their Pirates game) since the Pirates CSG has done so well --why pay someone for a license that's easy to knock-off?

The new game uses the new Pocket Model moniker that the Star Wars game they recently released instead of the old CSG one, whether this is purely aesthetics or actually implies a change of game play is yet to be known though it could go either way buy my guess is a change in game play. While many people would like to have it compatible with Pirates CSG, the Pocket Model gameplay that Star Wars used was very simple and fun and probably would go over better with the Wal-Mart/Target crowd.

Update: The Pirates of the Caribbean game is 100% compatible with the current Pirates game, there was a post on the WK forum to that effect (which were down at the time of the orignal post). Free memebership required to view the post.
