The New TWG

The new system explained.

I don't have anyone to play Pirates with.

So, despite the fact that it is one of the most fantabulous games on the planet, I don't get to play often. Generally, I just buy the packs and then put together massive fleets on my desk to threaten anyone who dares troll the cursed waters of my office space.

Maybe it's just a waste of money and time, but I pick up a booster or two every time I buy comics. But it was profitable about the same time that Civil War #3 came out. I had bought a booster of Davey Jones' Locker, and was once again frustrated that no rares were in the pack. I was consoled by the fact that a complete game was in each pack, but I mentioned (to myself) that these guys were making off like bandits with selling these piecemail.

Confronted with the eminent loss of my part time job, I was also confronted with a collection of plastic cardboard ships that wouldn't expand soon. Then it struck me.

We can get money by selling articles.

The foundation of TWG was getting free stuff. We needed to continue that mission. Ads aren't bringing in enough money. It was time for a new business model.

So that's how we get to today.

In order to maintain the relentlessly entertaining content we regularly supply you with, we need to have money to get more stuff. So we've got two new sources of revenue.

First, subscription articles. Naturally we'll provide a free article now and then (after all, the first one's always free). But for the most part, you will need to buy boosters. A booster, like Pirates or any other collectible game will contain five random articles.

The forum, as our biggest drain on technical resources, also has a solution. The most popular threads will cost Fell Points. The best way to get fell points is to submit content for publication on TWG. Saying really cool stuff will work too. You can also buy Fell Points if you're desperate.

Today, as an introduction day, is a free day. Try it out, kick the tires, and let us know what you think.

So welcome to the new TWG. I hope you appreciate the new system!
